Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 14 2021/22 12 April 2022

It’s Good Friday on 15 April so there won’t be a club meeting. However, it’s the final day to submit up to 4 images for the 3rd Merit PDI competition https://wrekinartspc.com/competition-links-organisations-and-club-guides

On Friday 22 April, Caroline Preece LRPS https://www.carolinepreecephotography.com will judge the 3rd Merit PDI competition.

The club was rather successful at the recent MCPF Inter-club PDI championships at Smethwick coming 2nd overall. Norman showed us all the images last Friday after Steve Proctor’s talk. If you missed that event then you can see them on the club’s website https://wrekinartspc.com/specific-news-items/2022/4/8/great-club-success-at-the-mcpf-inter-club-pdi-championships-2022 Congratulations go to Russell Price who picked up a selector’s medal for “Penguins in Sandstorm.” Well done also to Audrey, Roger, Calvin, Norman, Andy and Tom who submitted images for the club’s winning entry. The club will now represent the Midlands Federation along with Cannock, Smethwick and Arden in the National Championships at Warwick University in July.

Norman is now looking for prints for the MCPF Inter-Club championships on 22 May. Let's see if we can make it a double! Contact Norman on 1066norman53@gmail.com if you have prints you would like to be considered for our entry before the end of April

Other club members have had success since the last Newsletter. Tom gained a BPE5* award - a phenomenal achievement , Sharon had “Anemone” accepted for the RPS Creative Eye Group print exhibition 2022, and Steve had “Misty Sunrise” as a double page spread in this month’s Digital Camera Magazine.

The British Wildlife Photography Awards https://www.bwpawards.org opens for entries on 20 April. There are 10 categories https://www.bwpawards.org/categories plus a documentary series where you can enter up to 6 images. There’s a £750 prize for each category winner plus £5,000 for the overall winner. Closing date is 19 June. You can find entry fees and rules at https://www.bwpawards.org/rules
