Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 13 2019/20 26 February 2020

This Friday we welcome Peter Gennard MFIAP, EFIAP/p from Smethwick Photographic Society for a return visit with his talk, “Retrospective.”

On Friday 6 March Simon Kitchin https://www.landscapephotographyuk.com visits the club for the first time with his talk “Photographing North Wales.”Simon is an award winning landscape photographer based in North Wales. His photographs have been published in numerous magazines, books and calendars. I think we will have an exciting night seeing some stunning landscape photography.

Then on Friday 13 March Ken Bryan http://www.ken-bryan.co.uk returns to the club to show more of his fabulous landscape images. Ken will also bring some of his pottery and cards for sale. Don’t forget to bring some money! Congratulations to Norman, Russell, Calvin, Janet and Tom who won awards in the recent Midphot Salon. You can see their images and all the other acceptances at The Midphot Exhibition from 18 to 22 March at Smethwick. The Shropshire Star is running a pet portrait competition https://www.shropshirestar.com/entertainment/competitions/2020/02/11/pawtrait-pets-do-you-have-the-purrrr-fect-pawtrait-of-your-pet/You can submit entries up to 5pm on 8 March. The chosen portraits will then be published in the Shropshire Star on 25 March when the public will be able to vote for their favourite. The pet photo with the most votes will be deemed the winner and will receive £500. The runner up will receive £250 whilst third place will receive £100. Please read the rules thoroughly before entering.

There’s another photo competition with the the theme “Spring into Summer“ run by the online "Under the Wrekin” Magazine https://www.facebook.com/UnderTheWrekin/ with a prize of a £50 Amazon voucher.

The Photography Show https://www.photographyshow.com is at the NEC from 14 - 17 March. Day tickets are available from £11.95 each.
