Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 3 2019/20 10 September 2019

This Friday we welcome John Hartshorne, DPAGB, BPE3* to show some of his fantastic A2 prints in a lecture titled “Kaleidoscope.”

Calvin will lead the learner hour at 6,45pm with some information about exposure and focus,

On Friday 20 September we will be treated to “Confessions of a competition addict” with Robert Millin, MFIAP, FBPE, EFIAP/d1, MPSA, SPSA, GPU Hermes, DPAGB from Wigan 10 Foto Club http://wigan10.com/robert-millin/ This is Robert’s first visit to the club and I’m sure we will see some super images.

The Ironbridge Festival of Imagination https://ironbridgefestival.co.uk starts on Thursday 12 September and runs until Sunday 29 September. There are more than 80 events. Many are free but there are a number that you have to pay for. Book your tickets at http://ticketstelford.com/whats-on/festivals/

The highlight of the Festival is the free Ironbridge Open Day on The Wharfage, Ironbridge from 11.00 to 16.00 on Saturday 21 September. The club will have a stall and Alan is looking for helpers to erect the gazebo and give out information about the club. There will be more information available this Friday.

Wellington Walking Festival https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/d1f4d3_b93a5e6d942545cd84ac5df740342686.pdf started this Monday and runs until Sunday 15 September. All the walks are free but it’s suggested that walkers’ may wish to donate £2 to help defray the costs of the festival.

Looking a little further ahead, MCPF are organising a seminar https://www.mcpf.co.uk/seminars/ on Sunday 20 October from 1030 to 1630 at Smethwick Photography Club. The title is “Prepare to be Inspired” and the speakers are Leigh Preston FRPS http://www.leighpreston.co.uk Nathaniel Coalson ARPS, ASICIP https://www.natcoalson.com and Joan Blease ARPS, MPAGB, EFIAP/b, ABPE https://joanbleasephotography.com Tickets are £10 available through the first link in this paragraph.

Finally, the club will represent the Midland Counties Photographic Federation (MCPF) at the PAGB Inter-Club print championships http://www.thepagb.org.uk/competitions/inter-club-print/ at The Croston Theatre, Westholme School, Blackburn on Sunday 27 October at 10am. Tickets are £11 each available through the PAGB site https://pagbhost.co.uk/main/main.php This will be an excellent opportunity to see some of the best print workers in the country. If that isn’t enough then there’s an excellent raffle with prizes such as and Epson A3 printer and Canon DSLR camera!
