Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 2 2017/18

Club restarts this Friday, 1 September, with a social evening and exhibition of members work which will be opened by the Deputy Mayor of Wellington Town Council, Cllr Cindy Mason-Morris at 8pm. Cindy is also chair of Wellington Festival http://www.wellington-shropshire.gov.uk/2017-wellington-festival-october/ which runs from 13 to 29 October.

On 8 September, our own Tony Thomas EFIAP gives the Doug Lewis Memorial Lecture “Something New and maybe Something Old.” Doug was a stalwart of the club when it opened first in the 1970’s and did a lot of voluntary construction work in the building.

The Learner Hour programme starts at 6.45pm on 8 September with a portrait session. If you don’t already have your photo on the website http://wrekinartspc.com/members-put-face-to-name/ then come to the club a little earlier and let the learner group take it for you.

There’s an exciting programme http://wrekinartspc.com/main-programme-2017-2018/ to look forward to this year. Hand in for the first merit PDI competition is on 6 October with other competitions following at regular intervals. After last year’s successful launch, the Mobile PDI competition hand in date is 13 October. Entries need to be taken on any smartphone or tablet.

Finally, Severn Valley Railway has a steam gala from 21 to 24 September http://www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=100 where there’s an opportunity to see trains running all night. Full details are contained in the link.
