Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 1 2017/18

We’re half way through August now and the new season starts in just over 2 weeks time on Friday 1 September with an exhibition of members work. Tony is looking for prints from all members and would like you to deliver them to the club room on either 18 or 25 August.

You can now see the full programme for the year on the club website http://wrekinartspc.com/main-programme-2017-2018/  Printed programmes will be available for collection at the first meeting. Tony has excelled again and put together an exciting and well balanced selection of lectures and competitions that will suit every taste. I hope that we will see you on the opening night. Perhaps you could ask someone interested in photography but not yet a club member to join you.

The programme continues on 8 September when our own Tony Thomas EFIAP gives the Dough Lewis Memorial lecture.

The Learner Hour programme starts at 6.45pm on 8 September with a portrait session. If you don’t already have your photo on the website http://wrekinartspc.com/members-put-face-to-name/ then come to the club a little earlier and let the learner group take it for you.

Next Thursday, 24 August, Anne Sutcliffe FRPS will give a talk on the monochrome images of the late Alan Millward FRPS  at Smethwick clubroom.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2017 exhibition of prints can be seen at Wolverhampton Art Gallery http://www.wolverhamptonart.org.uk/whats-on/wildlife-photographer-of-the-year-2017/ until 1 October. Full details are available in the link.

If you’re interested in taking up infra red photography then Hugh Stanton has a converted Nikon D70 for sale. Hugh says that the camera has a low shutter count, is in excellent condition and is in the original box that includes power cords, data cables, charger and camera strap. There is a battery and 8 Mb compact flash card in the camera and it is available at £180. There is also a 18 to 55mm lens available separately for £60. You can contact Hugh on 07847 206492.
