Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 12 2015/16 2 February 2016

This Friday, Ralph Duckett EFIAP, MPAGB, APAGB will judge the 2nd Merit Print Competition. There will be a critique evening In the learners hour this week. Please bring along your pdis  and receive constructive comment to help you enter the images into the next competition. 

On Friday 12 February, Dave Millard from Smethwick Photographic Society http://www.smethwickphotographic.com/ will visit the club for the first time to show us some of his inspiring images under the intriguing title “What!, No filters”. The learners hour this week will be RAW processing and camera settings. Don’t forget to bring your camera for this session. 

Looking a little further ahead, Friday 19 February is the hand in night for the Landscape Print and pdi competitions. This is a single class entry and all work entered must be new. As ever, full rules can be found in the printed programme or http://wrekinartspc.com/competition-links-organisations-and-club-guides/  The following Friday, 26 February, is the hand in night for the 3rd merit pdi competition.  

On Thursday 4 February the funeral of our dear friend Roger Hague, DAPGB will be held at Claverley Church (Sat Nav WV5 7DS) at 1130.  There is a large car park opposite the church so please make every effort to attend. This will be a celebration of Roger’s life and Helena has asked people not to wear black.  There will be retiring collection for the Asbestos Support Group.  

This Friday is the final date to submit images to Midphot 2016  - the annual exhibition of Midland Photography http://www.mcpf.co.uk/midphot2016.html Classes include colour prints, mono prints, projected digital images, creative panel of prints, nature prints and nature projected digital images. There are a number of awards in each class detailed in the link. You can enter up to 8 images in each class at 75p per print or pdi or £3 for a panel of prints. .Please add the club name and your name and address on the back of each of print. All entries must be submitted via the club and Tony is coordinating the entry. 

Libby Smith EFIAP, MPAGB, APAGB (supported by Permajet) will be presenting a Workshop at the Club on Sunday 13 March at 1030am. It will include soft proofing, preparing images for printing and how to get the most out of your pictures. Tickets are £25 for the full day workshop and booking is essential. The Photography Show http://www.photographyshow.com/ will be at the NEC, Birmingham from 19 to 22 March. This year on 19 and 20 March there will be a series of events that will celebrate photography  in around Birmingham http://www.photographyshow.com/whats-on/capture-birmingham where there are opportunities to improve your photography or browse and enjoy the work of other photographers. Ticket prices for the show are £13.95 or £10.95 for concessions.
