Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 9 2016/17 13 December 2016

The annual Christmas Party is on this Friday from 8pm when all members and their partners are invited to attend.

There won’t be any club meetings for 2 weeks after the party and they will restart on Friday 6 January 2017 with Peter Gennard MFIAP, EFIAP from Smethwick Photographic Society http://www.smethwickps.co.uk/mg-peter-gennard/4592531485 with “Another Brew of PG Tips.“ The Learner Hour will recommence at 6.45pm and Calvin will announce the topic later.

Friday 6 January is also the final hand in night for the 2nd Merit PDI competition. If you’re unfamiliar with the competition rules or have forgotten where to find the online entry system then use this link http://wrekinartspc.com/competition-links-organisations-and-club-guides/ to find all the information.

Midphot 2017 http://www.mcpf.co.uk/midphotrules2017.pdf is a competition for all club photographers in the Midland Counties Photographic Federation area. Entry can only be made via the club and this year Ed Phillips ed.phillips@imagoman.co.uk  will be co-ordinating the entries. There are 6 classes: Colour Prints, Monochrome Prints, Creative Panel of Prints, Nature Prints, Projected Digital Images and Nature Projected Images. Entry fee is 75p per print or PDI and £3 for the Panel Competition. There are a number of awards in each class and full details of the awards, judges and definitions can be found on the link. Please let Ed have your prints and PDIs by 20 January to give hime plenty of time to prepare the entry before the closing date.

On Saturday 21 January we will have the Wrekin International Salon 2016 awards presentation at The Belfrey Theatre adjacent to the club room together with an audio visual presentation of all the accepted images. The event starts at 2pm and all club members and their guests are invited to attend. A lot of work goes into organising the Salon. Besides being Salon Chairman, Jon Baker produces the AV presentation and chooses music to suit the mood of the images. The Salon Committee would like to see as many members there as possible so you can show your appreciation.

Smethwick PS http://www.smethwickps.co.uk will be showing their International Salon from 7 to 15 January 2017. Full details including times and prices can be found on the website.
