Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 8 2016/17 29 November 2016

This Friday, John White EFIAP/g, BPE 5*, CPAGB from Tettenahll Wood Photographic Club will show us a selection of his excellent prints and anecdotes in the aptly named lecture “An evening with John White.”Members attending the Learners Hour should bring their cameras along when help will be given on settings.

Next Friday, 9 December, Tom Dodd FRPS, FIPF, DPAGB (supported by Permajet) http://www.tomdoddphotography.com from Blaenau Ffestiniog will treat us to a selection of colour and mono prints with his lecture “Something for Everyone.” The Learners Hour will give members a chance to have a critique of their images so bring some along on a memory stick.

The club’s Christmas party will be on Friday 16 December starting at 8pm when partners are invited to come along. Please let Sheila know if you’re coming so that she can cater for the correct number.

The Salon results have been published, a full list of acceptances and the medal winning images can be seen at http://wrekinartspc.com/wrekin-salon-2016-awards/ A number of club members were successful in gaining acceptances and congratulations go to Sue Baker, 1 acceptance: Steve Barber, 7 acceptances and The Wrekin Members Medal for Colour; Irene Froy,  2 acceptances; Alan Lees, 2 acceptances; Carole Mathews, 1 acceptance and The Wrekin Members Medal for Mono; Charlotte Nadin, 2 acceptances; Norman O’Neill 5 acceptances; Audrey Price, 4 acceptances and The Wrekin Members Medal for Nature; Russell Price 5 acceptances and The Wrekin Members Medal for Travel.

The Salon Exhibition will be shown at The Belfrey Theatre (adjacent to the club room) on Saturday 21 January starting at 2pm. Make a note of the date in your diary and bring along your friends. You’ll see some excellent images to give you ideas for shots next year. If you’re interested in putting together AV presentations then Jon is looking for someone to do the Salon Exhibition next year.

Finally, I regret to announce the death of Les Cantor on 27 November. Les was a founder member of the club in the early 1970s and was an active member up to 4 years ago when illness struck. The funeral will take place at Telford Crematorium on Thursday 8 December and the time will be announced later.
