Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 8 2020/21 19 January 2021

This Friday we welcome Rory O’Connor AIPF, AFIAP from Blarney Photography Club https://blarneyphotoclub.com with “My World of Photography.” Rory says, “I am mostly a seascape/landscape photographer but with an interest in other genres. Many of his scape images are taken in the counties of Cork, Kerry and Waterford on the South coast of Ireland. We should also see some macro, nature and portrait photography and hear the story behind some of the images. Friday 22 January is also the hand in night for the second Merit PDI competition. This will take place on 5 February and judged by Kylie Martin EFIAP, BPE2*, LDPS.

For this competition you will be able to enter up to 3 images. The committee has agreed that any image submitted for the 2019/20 season can be reused this season irrespective of any awards given. There will be a further 2 Merit PDI competitions during the year plus those for Landscape and Natural History.

On Friday 29 January Gareth Martin AWPF, CPAGB from Afan Nedd Camera Club in Port Talbot https://www.afannedd.com presents his online talk “In the Making” Gareth is also one of the founder members of Cymru Monochrome https://www.cymrumonochrome.com/home.html

Landscape Photographer of the Year https://www.lpoty.co.uk is open for entries until midday on 14 April 2021. Images must have been taken in the UK within the last 5 years. Full rules can be found on the website.

Midphot 2021 https://www.mcpf.co.uk is open for entries until 13 February 2021. There are 5 PDI categories - Open Colour; Open Monochrome; Scapes; Nature and Tryptichs

Finally, if you’re looking for a different location for your daily lockdown exercise, Ironbridge Power Station’s Tank Bay will be demolished this Friday between 11am and 1pm.
