Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Summer Newsletter

t’s just over 4 weeks until the new club season starts on Friday 7 September at 8pm. The first evening will be a social and exhibition of members prints. The club room is still open during the summer break on Friday nights from 8pm so If you want to show some of your prints in the opening night exhibition then please bring them and maybe stop and join in the informal conversation. You never know what you might learn!

On 14 September Norman O’Neill AFIAP, CPAGB, BPE4* gives the Doug Lewis Memorial Lecture with “My Road to Distinctions.”

Calvin will start the Learner Hour on 14 September and all club members are invited. The first session will have some tips on Photoshop so if you have an image your’e struggling with then bring it along and get the chance to work on it. If anybody has ideas, or indeed wants to share some of their knowledge with other club members, then contact Calvin calvin.downes@btinternet.com

Talking of struggling with images, there will be a critique evening at the club on Friday 21 September when all members can bring prints or PDIs  and get ideas on improving the final look. You can also get comments if you’re submitting work for distinctions.

Next Saturday, 18 August, The Newport Nocturne returns to the streets of Newport after a break of a couple of years. http://cyclotours.co.uk/qvcx/nocturne/  There’s a community event starting at 6pm where you’ve got a chance to ride the course with the first race event starting at 7.10pm. The whole event finishes at 10.20pm but you’ll need to get there early if you want to find a great position to take your photographs.

The club will be in the PAGB print competition at Blackburn on 28 October. If you want tickets at £10 each, please let Tony know.
