Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 19 2016/17 17 May 2017

This Friday there will be a showing of the London Salon of Photography Exhibition. The Salon http://www.londonsalon.org has been going since 1910 and membership is by invitation only.  According to the website, “ the aim of The London Salon is to exhibit only that class of photographic work in which there is distinct evidence of artistic feeling and execution.” Visit on Friday and judge for yourself if that criterion is met. If you like the projected images then there is a chance to see the original prints in an exhibition at Smethwick Photographic Society from the 1st of July for 3 weeks. Further details will be available closer to the date.

In the Learner Hour Calvin will lead a critique of Prints and PDIs starting at 6.45pm.

On 26 May we welcome Chris Palmer FRPS, EFIAP, DPAGB, APAGB (supported by Fotospeed) http://www.chrispalmerphotographer.co.uk/home for one of his instructive and exciting print lectures.

Friday 26 is also the hand in night for the 4th Merit Print Competition. Rules and a link to the online entry system can be found at http://wrekinartspc.com/competition-links-organisations-and-club-guides/

The “Put a name to the face” section of the website http://wrekinartspc.com/members-put-face-to-name/ is coming along slowly. I was speaking to David Roberts last week and he said that as a relatively new member he has found it very useful. If you want to add your portrait to the site then contact Calvin or Ed.

Finally, Geoff Owen is offering a camera case for sale. The case is 18 x 13 x 6.125 inches. It has 2 lockable catches and carry handle on the top with 2 sets of small legs on the base on the opposite side to the handle. It has 2 strap lugs . Inside it has a top of honeycomb foam and the bottom part is solid foam, ready to cut. Price £15 or nearest offer. If you’re interested then email Geoff georach2002@yahoo.co.uk or speak to him on Friday.
