The new season starts on Friday 2 September with a social evening and exhibition of members work. Tony is looking for work from every member to display and you can take it to the clubroom on the next 2 Fridays or, if that’s not convenient, then deliver it direct to Tony’s house.

The first talk is the Doug Lewis Memorial Lecture on Friday 9 September and it will be given by our own Tony Thomas EFIAP (supported by Paper Spectrum) Doug Lewis was one of the founding members of the club and worked hard to ensure that we have a fully functioning club room. Please come and support the club that night.
Looking a little further ahead, Friday 30 September is the hand in night for the first merit pdi competition. Last year’s Salon exhibition will be shown as part of the Wellington Festival http://wellingtonartsfest.co.uk on Saturday 22 October at All Saints Church Centre in Wellington starting at 7.30pm. Entry is free but you are asked to book a place by clicking on the “events” page of the website and following the links to our event. There is a wide variety of other events at the Festival which starts on 7 October and runs until 30 October.
There are 2 local photographic competitions that you might like to enter. The first is the Friends of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust http://www.ironbridge.org.uk/support-us/friends-of-igmt/the-friends-2016-annual-photographic-competition/ This year the theme is “Happy 30th Birthday World Heritage Site” The museum is looking for celebratory images from within the World Heritage Site, though how you interpret the theme is of course entirely up to you. Entry is free. There is a first prize of £100 and the competition closes on 31 August.
The second competition is “Show us why Lawley is such a great place to live” You can send up to 3 photographs, along with your name, postal address, telephone number and age by email to photocomp@lawleyvillage.com Each photo should be sent as an attachment no bigger than 2MB. Attachments should be titled with your name and age category. Please include a description of what the photo is about, when it was taken and why you chose to submit. 1st Prize for adults is £500 and 2nd prize is £100. Last year Regan won 2nd prize in the under 18s and Tim won 2nd prize in the adult section. I can’t find the full terms and conditions online but you can pick up a leaflet with this information at the clubroom. Closing date 30 September.
