Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 4 2016/17 4 October 2016

This Friday, Dave Tucker DPAGB, BPE3* will judge the first Merit PDI competition. Before that at 6.45pm the Learners Hour will be about black and white conversion in Photoshop with Charlotte.

Next Friday, 14 October, we will be treated to a presentation by two of our own members. Calvin Downes EFIAP and Ed Philips will talk about a selection of their latest images. We’ve had some very good presentations from other members in the past and I’m told we could be in for a surprise! Calvin will run the Learners Hour this week and will concentrate on Masks in Photoshop.

Looking a little further ahead, on 21 October we will have a new “mobile devices” competition where members will be able to submit up to 5 images taken either on a mobile phone or tablet using our normal online entry system. Closing date for this competition is 14 October but Calvin will take late entries by email.

On Sunday 23 October Midland Counties Photographic Federation are holding a seminar http://www.mcpf.co.uk/seminars.html at The Old Schoolhouse, Oldbury B69 2AS (Smethwick PS club room) with Adrian Lines, Gerry Coles and Jane Lines. The seminar runs from 1030am until 4pm and tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door. The booking form is on the link.

There’s still time to enter the Wrekin Salon before it closes on 9 November. There are 4 classes, PID Colour Open, PID Mono Open, Nature and Travel. Last years Salon exhibition will be shown on Saturday 22 October at 7.30pm in All Saints Parish Rooms as part of this year’s Wellington Festival. Entry is free but to please book a ticket online http://wellingtonartsfest.co.uk/event/wrekin-photography-club/ (click on the E in the ticket box and search for the event) We look forward to seeing many of you at the event with your friends and family. There are many other events at the festival which runs from 7 to 30 October.

Talking of Salons, Bebington Salon is now open for entries until 23 November. Finally, John Swannick has some equipment for sale:  Nikkor AF 70-210mm f4-5.6 push/pull zoom, (£55) 2) nikkor AF nikkor 70-300mm f4-5.6 (£85.00) 3) Nikkor TC-17 E11 converter. This is a 1.7x converter suitable for some of the AF-S range of lenses. (£175) NB This converter is not compatible with either of the zooms.
