Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 5 2016/17 18 October 2016

This Friday judging takes place for our new mobile device competition. This will be undertaken by members and I’m sure that we can all participate in what could be a lively debate to find the best images. In the learner hour there will be critique of your images so either bring prints or download them onto a memory stick. If you don’t have a printer then you can get advice on how to prepare your images for commercial printing.

Then on Saturday 22 October Jon will be showing The Wrekin Salon 2015 exhibition at Wellington Parish Centre as part of this year’s Wellington Festival http://wellingtonartsfest.co.uk . The centre is next to the church on Lychgate Walk TF1 3HA and there is free parking adjacent by the mini island at the junction of King Street and Victoria Road. The event is free and starts at 7.30pm although you will need to book tickets online at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wellington-festival-wrekin-photography-club-tickets-25840540753?aff=ehomecard

Next Friday, 28 October, we welcome Colin New (sponsored by Fotospeed) http://www.colinnew.co.uk/index.html from Sheffield with his lecture “Namibian Journey.” Colin started his photographic life in the darkroom and has transferred those skills to producing excellent digital images. He’s had solo exhibitions in London, Harrogate, Bradford, Buxton, Sheffield and Barnsley, is a member of the London Salon of Photography http://www.londonsalon.org and a past chairman of Gamma Photoforum http://www.gammaphoto.co.uk In the learner hour there will be a further critique of images.

Looking a little further ahead the hand in night for the first merit print competition is Friday 4 November.

On Monday 7 November, Trinity Photographic Group http://www.trinity-photography-group.com is hosting a lecture by Guy Edwardes http://www.guyedwardes.com “A Professional’s Approach to Outdoor Photography” at The Royal British Legions, Sutton Coldfield B75 7LA. Tickets are £4.50 for non-members.

Finally, on Saturday 30 October the “Ultimate Stance” exhibition http://www.ultimate-stance.co.uk is at Telford International Centre where you might get some interesting car images!
