Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 1 2023/24

The new club season starts on Friday 15 September when Wellington Town Council Mayor, Cllr Paul Davis will open an exhibition of club member’s prints.

Entry is free to this event and there will be some drinks and nibbles available. Please publicise this on your social media page and invite anyone interested in photography to come with you that night. New members are most welcome.

Steve is busy working on the Programme for the season and it will be published on the website as soon as it’s available.

In the meantime there’s a couple of photo opportunities at local Museums. Both Blists Hill and The Black Country Living Museum are offering late night openings during August. Blists Hill is open on a Thursday night between 4pm and 7.30pm https://www.ironbridge.org.uk/events/family-events/blists-hill-lates/ whilst The Black Country Living Museum is open late every Friday up to 1 September when tickets are £7.50 for entry between 4pm and 8pm.

Blists Hill is also hosting a Steam Weekend https://www.ironbridge.org.uk/events/family-events/steam-weekend-2023/ 12 & 13 August.

The Midland Salon of International Photography Exhibition http://www.midland-salon.com will be held at Smethwick Photography Club, The Old School House, Churchbridge, Oldbury B69 2AS on 12, 13 17 & 19 August. Times and prices are on the link.

Finally, Steve has offered to host a couple of workshops at his home before the season starts. One will be experimenting with high speed photography - shooting at water-filled balloons or bottles and the other. walking around the area looking for suitable landscapes. These are both weather dependent and, as the weather isn’t particularly good at the moment, Steve proposes to leave them until we have some more settled weather.

I’ll send out more information later but if you might be interested let me know and I’ll put your name on the list.
