She says -
I first held a camera at the age of 8, my dad wanted his photo taken on his birthday! I was also given the cine camera and in later years we used to develop black and white photos together. I was definitely hooked! My dad bought me a camera at the age of 19, and in 1992 I had my first SLR, one of the first autofocus cameras, a Pentax SF7. I then joined Telford Camera club, they met at Madeley Court, but there were only about 10 members. When the chairman died I had moved to Shrewsbury by then and that club folded. I joined Shropshire Photographic Society in about 1998 and have been a member ever since.
Photography is a great passion for me, I couldn't paint, so photography satisfied the creative instinct and also the compulsion to record the people and places I had visited. I quickly ended up on the committee at Shropshire PS, then became President for 3 years, and have been competition secretary since about 2003, the digital revolution. As a member the club provided me with critique of my images and the motivation to improve my photos. I am chairman of the Shrewsbury Open Photography Exhibition (BPE) and have run this for 11 years. I have judged at many local clubs, Whitchurch, Nantwich, Bridgnorth, Stourport, Stourbridge, Welshpool, Oswestry, Newport, Great Barr, and have given talks at most of these.
I worked as a freelance photographer for the Shrewsbury Chronicle for about 5 years, and after that I branched out into weddings and portraits, also PR and commercial photos
My favourite subjects are wildlife, landscapes, moody and atmospheric scenes and natural style portraits.
