This Friday we welcome Ian Boulton for a return visit with his talk “Not a Person in Sight” at 7.30pm. Ian says “This talk centres around but not entirely on photographs taken during the periods of lockdown when I was unable to pursue street photography. There are images taken in the home, garden, on local walks and some landscapes taken in previous years. There’s also a section on infrared.” Visitors are welcome to join the the presentation. On Friday 25 February Huw Alban https://halban.weebly.com presents his online talk, “The Emotional Landscape.” Huw says, "Within this lecture I explore why the dialogue between me and the subject is so important, and also how I include the results of that dialogue in my own images.” Visitors are welcome to join the the presentation. The Societies of Photographers Convention 2022 https://thesocieties.net/convention/ is at The Novotel West London from 16 to 19 March. There’s a trade show running alongside it from 17 to 19 March and, providing you register for the show before 28 February through the same link, entrance is free.
The Photo Space Ludlow https://tpsc.online currently has an exhibition open only at weekends from 1030am to 4pm. The exhibition link hasn’t been updated but several photographers are taking part.
The Mayor’s Charity at Ludlow Town Council is running a photographic competition https://www.ludlow.gov.uk with a closing date of 28 February. You can submit up to 2 images on the the theme of “Market Day” or “Historic Streets.” Further details including the rules can be found on the Council website.
There is a second local photography competition run by The Mortimer History Society https://mortimerhistorysociety.org.uk/photography/ You can submit up to 3 images on the theme of “The Medieval History of the Welsh Marcher Lordships.” The best images will be incorporated into their 2024 calendar and the winning image will receive £100.
