WHO ARE WREKIN ARTS PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB

Wrekin Arts Photographic Club meets every Friday from early September to late June, with the exception of holidays (please see our Programme for details). Our meetings commence at 7.30pm prompt in The Belfrey Arts Centre, Princes Street, Wellington, Telford TF1 1GJ (see Map). In addition, there are special interest groups meeting at other times.

The club was formed in 1977 by people with a common interest in photography who wished to meet and share their enjoyment of picture taking. The same is true today, over 25 years later, and several of those founders are still regular members. The club actively supports Regional, National and International Exhibitions and Competitions with some members successfully submitting work in many overseas countries. Wrekin Arts Photographic Club is a member of The Belfrey Arts Centre and affiliated to The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through The Midland Counties Photographic Federation.

Wrekin Arts Photographic Club caters for all aspects of Photography, new members and visitors are always welcome whether they be new to the hobby or active professionals. There is a comprehensive programme of events, lectures, demonstrations and displays from some of this countries top photographers (see Programme). There are, in addition, highly enjoyable "members" evenings, which tend to have a lighter touch! The objective of the club is simply to increase the enjoyment of photography. Members wishing to improve their techniques will find many of our more experienced members always willing to offer practical help and advice.

Wrekin Arts Photographic Club has a comprehensive photographic book library for members' use which is being constantly updated with the latest publications. The book choice covers a wide range of interests and techniques and is possibly the most comprehensive photographic book library in Shropshire. We are also fortunate to have good facilities for disabled members with easy access for wheelchairs; the whole club premises are on the ground floor. Visitors and potential members are welcome to join us on any Friday evening during the "Club Year" (see Programme).

There is no obligation to join the club and we suggest that potential members come first as visitors - a warm welcome assured - before making any decision about joining. The meetings start at 8pm prompt, so as a courtesy to other members and guests, please ensure you arrive a short time beforehand.
See FEES for membership/visitors charges.
