This Friday we welcome Colin Southgate FRPS, DPAGB http://www.colinsouthgate.com from Harpenden Photographic Society http://www.harpendenphotographicsociety.co.uk  for “An Evening with Colin Southgate” Colin has a different outlook with his imaginative photography and it should be an interesting lecture.

Next Friday, 26 January, Gary Langley http://www.garylangley.co.uk (supported by Paper Spectrum) visits the club for the first time with his lecture “Holidays and Away Days”

26 January is also the hand in date for the 2nd Merit Print competition. From 18 January to 2 February Jon and Sue Baker http://www.fourfeetfrom.co.uk will have an exhibition of their prints  at Smethwick Photographic Society’s club room http://www.smethwickps.co.uk/visiting-exhibitions/4591954448

Irene is presenting another of her popular workshops “Photoshop My Way” http://irenefroy.com/tuition.htm at the clubroom on Sunday 22 April. Tickets are £25 and you should contact Irene irene.froy@btinternet.com to secure a place. This course sells out quickly and if you want to secure a place then contact Irene as soon as possible.

Oxford Brookes University is holding “Think Human” a festival of the humanities and social sciences from 21-26 May. As a forerunner event, the University has launched a free to enter photographic competition which is open up to 31 March. Finally, Midphot, the exhibition of Midland Photography is now open for entries http://www.mcpf.co.uk/midphot/  This year it has an online entry system and all members should use this to enter and upload images. The club will continue to send prints in bulk so please ensure that you bring them to the club room on 2 February. Please make sure that you are familiar with the rules and conditions as there are important changes to the Nature Sections and size of the PDI images. To enter click on the link immediately above the image of the young lady that starts “New online entry system Midphot” and you will see the Photo Comp Entry system similar to the one we use for our internal competitions.
