Wrekin Arts Photographic Club Newsletter 13 2018/19 19 February 2019

This Friday we welcome Rod Wheelans MFIAP, MPAGB, Hon PAGB (supported by Permajet) from Dumfries https://www.dumfriescameraclub.co.uk/gallery/rod-wheelans/images . Rod will be presenting “Holiday Snaps and Other Stuff”. I’m sure that the “Holiday Snaps” will be exhibition quality so we’ll be in for an exciting evening. Please make every effort to attend as Rod is travelling a long way to present this lecture.

On Friday 1 March we welcome another of our talented club members to give the lecture. Irene Froy MPAGB, Hon PAGB, EFIPA, BPE4* (supported by Permajet) will present “Pastel Moments” More of Irene’s magic!

On Sunday 16 June Irene will be presenting her last “Photoshop My Way” workshop when you can learn how to create pastel images. Tickets are £25 each from Irene at irene.froy@btinternet.co.uk  

Friday 1 March is also the hand in night for the Challenge Cup competition. This competition is for a panel of 3, 4 or 5 related prints which can be displayed on one or more mounts. The Photography Show https://photographyshow.com is at the NEC Birmingham from 16 to 19 March. This year ticket holders can attend any day of the show and tickets are priced at £14.95 and £11.95 for concessions. The Ludlow 7 Competition is still open at The Photo Space http://www.thephotospace.co.uk/fr/accueil.html in Ludlow from Wednesday to Saturday 10.30am to 4.30pm until 9 March. There are 7 photographers exhibiting images on 7 walls of the studio. The “peoples choice”, the photographer with the most votes from members of the public will have a solo exhibition next year. Our own Ed Philips is part of the exhibition. You know what to do!

Finally, Joan Blease FBPE, MPAGB, EFIAP/b is running a photo competition on behalf of St. Rocco’s Hospice. There are a number of rules which are slightly different so please ensure that you read them thoroughly before entering

This Friday we welcome Andy Polakowski DPAGB, EFIAP/b, GPU-Cr2, BPE4* for a return visit from Mold when he will show some interesting pictures!

Calvin will lead the Learner Hour from 6.45pm

On Friday 2 November we welcome Scott Latham to Wrekin Arts for his first visit. Scott is a wildlife photographer and his lecture is titled “From Plains to Jungle”

The Learner Hour session this week will be about Brushes and Masks in Photoshop.

Friday 2 November is also the hand in night for the 1st Merit Print Competition when you can enter up to 3 images in each of the Mono and Colour sections of your appropriate level. Please read the rules on the competitions link http://wrekinartspc.com/competition-links-organisations-and-club-guides/ If you’re going to enter the Landscape and Natural History competitions later in the season then don’t forget that images for these 2 competitions must not have been entered into any of the earlier merit competitions. Please also submit online digital images of your entry through the link in the previous sentence.

On Sunday 28 October the club will participate in the PAGB Inter-Club Print Championship at Blackburn. We wish them luck.
